“NO HOLDS BARRED”: An Afternoon of Erotica Writing

TIME: SATURDAY FEBRUARY 16th, 1-5

JOIN DIXIE LUBIN AND A GROUP OF LOCAL LIBERATED WOMEN AND MEN OF ALL AGES WHO ARE READY TO SPEAK THEIR TRUTHS AND SHARE THEIR FICTION, AND CELEBRATE IN WORDS THE THINGS THAT TURN US ON. THIS WILL BE A GROUP IN WHICH WE OWN OUR WORK, AND SHARE OR REFRAIN FROM SHARING ON OUR OWN TERMS. WE WILL ESTABLISH AN AGREEMENT OF UNBREAKABLE CONFIDENTIALITY, AND IN ADDITION, NO ONE EVER NEEDS TO IDENTIFY THEIR WORK AS TRUTH, FICTION, OR A BLEND OF THE TWO. THIS GROUP WILL BE TRULY NO HOLDS BARRED IN TERMS OF SUBJECT MATTER-WE CAN BANISH OUR INTERNAL CENSORS AND LEAVE OUR POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AT THE DOOR TO PICK UP ON THE WAY OUT. WE CAN WRITE TOWARDS THE HEAT, WHATEVER THAT MEANS TO US PERSONALLY, WHETHER IT IS CLIT LIT PAR EXCELLENCE ALA ANAIS NIN, EROTIC POETRY, SHORT/SHORT FICTION, MEMORIES THAT DESERVE A WRITTEN FORM, LETTERS TO OLD LOVERS, OR ANTHEMS TO SACRED SEX. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO EXPLORE THE EXERCISES AND MATERIALS I HAVE TO SHARE, OR TO GO OFF INTO HER/HIS OWN TERRITORY. THE EMPHASIS WILL BE ON WHAT BRINGS EACH OF US JOY AND PLEASURE, IN REAL LIFE, AND ON THE PAGE.
WE WILL UTILIZE A COUPLE OF BREATHING AND VISUALIZATION EXERCISES FROM TAOIST SEXUAL YOGA TO GET US CONNECTED TO OUR ROOT CHAKRAS, AND THEN DIVE INTO WRITING, OPTIONAL BUT JUICY SHARING, AND MORE WRITING.

DIXIE LUBIN IS A LONGTIME LAWRENCE RESIDENT WHO HAS BEEN WRITING AND READING POETRY FOR THIRTY YEARS, AND FACILITATING WRITING GROUPS FOR TEN YEARS. HER PUBLICATIONS INCLUDE POEMS IN “THE CARBON CHRONICLES-HARVEST OF ARTS POETS 1992-96”, “KAW, KAW, KAW, as the POETS FLY from LAWRENCE, KANSAS (A CD), “SLIGHTLY TILTING TOWARDS THE VOID/RABID DOGGEREL”, A CHAPBOOK BY DIXIE AND FRED LUBIN, AND A CONTRIBUTION TO “BEGIN AGAIN-I50 KANSAS POETS, EDITED BY CARYN MIRIAM GOLDBERG”, AND “TO THE STARS THROUGH DIFFICULTY-A KANSAS RENGA.”, ALSO EDITED BY CARYN-MIRRIAM GOLDBERG.
