Soy Wax Batik Workshop this weekend

Saturday, July 20
1 pm at the Percolator
Free/by donation

Batik is a method of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.

Have you ever wanted to wax batik but thought it was too much work or too dangerous?  Know nothing about batik and want a good place to start?

Well, soy wax batik is for you.

This simple technique uses natural soy wax that melts at a much lower temperature so you can't get burned...you can even do it with your kids!  In this workshop we will learn from Jennifer Glenn how to use printing methods to apply the wax and then use fabric dyes to show your design.  You will have to take your pieces home and let them "batch" and then you can wash the wax out in a really hot washing machine.  It's like magic!

All you need to bring is your wonder; hope to see you there...
